5 Tips to Purchase Sandbox Land
On July 1, 2021, at 1 pm UTC (9 am EST), Sandbox will open Wave 2 of 5 of its Summer Jam land sale. The known partners in this wave include Gutter Cat Gang and Dingaling.
*UPDATE: SuperYeti also partnered with Sandbox and will be included in this wave*
Since I’ve been successful in acquiring Premium land in the past two drops (Euphoria (BAYC) and Summer Jam Wave 1 (Zed.Run)) I am asked frequently on Twitter to share my tips and strategies. I’m always happy to share my knowledge with the community so without further ado, here we go!
Tip 1 — Register Your Account Now
Sandbox cuts off registration 2–3 hours (I believe) before the land sale so register sooner than later.
Go to sandbox.game and register for an account and pre-register for the land sale.
Tip 2 — You Need $SAND and $ETH
You need $SAND to purchase the land and $ETH to complete the transaction. I usually purchase $SAND on uniswap.org. The transaction to complete the land purchase is dependent on gas fees at the time so I would advise you to check Etherscan’s Gas Tracker and ensure you have enough gas to cover the transaction.
As of writing this, it’s roughly $260 for normal land and $1202 for premium.
Tip 3 — Plan Your Purchase
Sandbox’s Summer Jam Wave 1 was sold out in 3 seconds. With the hype surrounding Gutter Cat Gang, I’m sure we’ll see similar numbers. Accordingly, I suggest you identify the land you want to buy before the sale goes live since any hesitation could cause you to miss out. Except for certain estates that go on sale on Opensea, the land and premium land is purchased on Sandbox’s map. You don’t need to refresh the map — it just becomes accessible to purchase.
Keep in mind that the Yellow squares are the Premium Land and the Grey-ish squares are the normal land that will be available for purchase. The Light Blue squares are reserved for Sandbox and future partners.
One tip that could work is clicking on the land you want prior to “go live” and when the sale is live you should see a “buy button” appear. This could save you an extra second in clicking. I haven’t personally done this, but I’ve heard it’s possible. I’ve always just identified the land and clicked right away.
Tip 4 — Stay on the Map
Sometimes transactions fail after the land has been “booked”. If the transactions fail they are repopulated on the map. If you were unable to buy the land you wanted, just wait and see if other land becomes available. This could happen within a few minutes of the land sale.
Tip 5 — Computer Resources
Processing the map can slow down your computer. Therefore, I usually close everything down and just keep one tab open on the map.
BONUS TIP — Game Theory
Thus far I’ve picked up two pieces of PREMIUM Land, but I’ve done it in a strategic way. Since I think most people go for corners between high profile partners and estates I avoid those areas completely. I don’t need to lose a clicking battle and end up empty-handed-I just want the land.
